What you should know about Winnipeg Rowing Club
The Winnipeg Rowing Club is located on the Red River just south of The Forks in downtown Winnipeg. Over the years the clubhouse has been destroyed by fire, with a rich and successful sporting history, the WRC is a non-profit organization, but has somehow always managed to maintain its long and proud tradition.Today, and water, wind, and fostering generations of camaraderie and friendships. It survived the Northwest Rebellion of 1885, the Great Flood of 1950, the Great Depression of the 1930's, the General Strike of 1919, and the Flood of the Century in 1997. It is one of the oldest sporting organizations in Western Canada.The Winnipeg Rowing Club has been in operation since 1881, stopping only twice in its history ¿ during WWI and WWII. Members range from 13 to 85, and the club offers programs for all skill levels.WRC is a member of Manitoba Rowing Association (MRA) and Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA).Our MissionThe Winnipeg Rowing Club is dedicated to providing programs and the required infrastructure designed to meet the needs of its members ¿ be it youth, senior, master, or recreational and competitive athletes ¿ and to enable all rowers to grow in the sport to their full potential.
