These Best Practices will serve as guidelines for producers and broadcasters to ensure consistency and quality for live events airing within Canada.Live Described Video differs from conventional DV because it occurs while the event is happening. While this may prove true for some folks who are enjoying a relaxing vacation at the cottage or spending time on a patio or by a pool, AMI has been busy completing a major project that will influence the way people who are blind or partially sighted watch live events on television.Over the last year, AMI has been working collaboratively with the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB), producers of described video as well as grassroots organizations representing the blind and partially sighted community to develop a set of Live Described Video Best Practices. It takes a tremendous amount of skill and talent to follow along and know precisely when to jump in and provide detail, without disrupting any of the action.Over the last three years, AMI has delivered a wide variety of live described events such as the London 2012 Summer Paralympics, Sochi 2014 Winter Paralympics, Blue Jays Baseball, the Canadian Federal Election and Aboriginal Day Live & Celebration 2014, to name just a few.
